  11. I don't want to waste my time reading garbage."
  12.      "Sounds reasonable."
  13.      "So I try reading the New York Times Book Review.  Only I
  14. can't make heads or tails out of what these reviewers are saying. 
  15. It's like they're talking in code or something."
  16.      So I looked through last week's book review, pulled out some
  17. troublesome phrases, and interpreted for my friend.  Here then, is
  18. the result:
